1️⃣ Client Consultation

  • Discuss the highlight colour and style (golden, caramel, ash, etc.).

  • Check hair condition, natural colour, and previous treatments.

  • Perform a patch test and strand test if necessary.

2️⃣ Preparation

  • Client wears a salon cape and towel.

  • Stylist wears gloves.

  • Prepare the lightener/bleach and developer according to product instructions.

3️⃣ Hair Sectioning

  • Divide hair into 4 main sections (front, sides, and back).

  • Clip each section for easy handling.

4️⃣ Highlight Application

  • Take thin strands of hair from each section.

  • Place foil under the hair strand.

  • Apply the lightener or highlight colour using a brush.

  • Fold the foil to secure the section.

5️⃣ Processing Time

  • Leave the highlights to process for 20–35 minutes depending on the desired colour lift.

  • Check the foils regularly.
